The process of making a piece of work produces a whole range of textures and marks within the clay - some of these can be quite subtle, others more dramatic. These may be the repetitive marks made during throwing on the wheel, or more random textures in the clay itself which are revealed during hand-building. I use copper, impressed marks, and touches of glaze to highlight these, or to create other dimensions within the piece.
