I am fascinated by spires, towers, steeples and domes, and roofs and chimneys, especially where they can be seen against the sky. Throughout my travels at home and abroad, I have been attracted to recording (by sketch or photograph) the 'skyscapes' where the outlines of several buildings at different levels create a visual link between the sky ('Heaven' in many religions) and man-made structures on Earth. Common factors are a broad base tapering to a point, but the actual form that they take can vary from the rounded contours of the dome to the sharp angles of the Hindu temples.
